"Trade opennes" is a currently topic since the last five years, but Do we really know what's talk about?
Colombia is a beautiful country with an emerging
economy. Specialists* say that we have a lot of changes to be an economical
powerful nation, because Colombia has resources that other countries haven't.
But they also say that we are not ready for an economical openness, so we can
think, Are we doing right with the free trades in Colombia?
- One of the reasons for doubt of the competitive of Colombia in front of the FTA (Free Trade Agreements) is for the few and not good-enough infrastructure specially the highways. We all know that the road network in Colombia is backward to our time, even when the government is implementing much of the national budget for it. But here is where we see the other great problem of Colombia: Corruption!
One of the things that slows the economic development
in Colombia is the Corruption, I like to say that Colombia is a very rich
country in which steal, and even like that is a lot of money. That make me
thing... What if all the money was spent on what should be? Maybe right
now we could be an Economical powerful nation, and maybe the trade openness
would be good for us, without unemployment, poverty and shortage.
- On the other hand, the fact that Colombia is a country rich in natural resources made it an excellent country for the FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) the which one generate jobs, and a capital stream that increase the GNP (Gross National Product) improving the economy.
As we can see, there are more negative than
positive causes so I can say that if in Colombia corruption ends we can be
prepare to the trade openness but if we continue like this, we will ends in a
total misery, and not especially for the fact that we aren't ready, just
because our "Government" is not enough for us.*Giovani, Cardona. "Colombia: apertura comercial de un país que se desindustrializa.." 13 Jun 2013. Lecture.
